Fingers is an American former right-handed relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for three teams between 1968 and 1985. He helped lead Oakland to become the only non-New York Yankees team ever to win three consecutive World Series titles. Fingers was named the Most Valuable Player of the 1974 World Series after earning a win in the opener and saves in the last three games. He was a 7 time All-Star in 1973-1976, 1978, 1981, and 1982 and a 3 time World Series champion from 1972 to 1974. He was the AL MVP and the AL Cy Young Award winner in 1981. He was the Rolaids Relief Man Award winner in 1977, 1978, 1980, and 1981 and a three time MLB saves leader in 1977, 1978, and 1981. Both the Oakland Athletics and the Milwaukee Brewers retired his number 34. He was included in the American Family Field Walk of Fame, the Athletics Hall of Fame, and the Milwaukee Brewers Wall of Honor. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992.
