He played for the Orioles 1965, Philadelphia Phillies 1966, Washington Senators 1967-71, Oakland Athletics 1971-74, Chicago Cubs 1975-76, Texas Rangers 1977, Montreal Expos 1978 and St. Louis Cardinals 1979-80. Darold played in 766 career games and recorded a 66-74 career won/loss record. Darold registered 1 complete game, 1 shutout, 143 saves, 681 K's and a 3.12 ERA in 1092.0 innings pitched. Knowles was known as a workhorse relief pitcher, particularly in his years with Oakland. In the 1973 World Series , he appeared in all seven games against the New York Mets .
